Naturally derived products
Reductions in petrochemicals and environmental impact are issues that are being addressed on a global scale. At Nippon Nyukazai, we work to develop environmentally friendly products, by leveraging our technologies that we have acquired through the development of petrochemical products ever since the company’s founding.
We strive to develop products using naturally derived raw materials as the starters, so that we can contribute to resolving social issues such as reductions in carbon emissions and plastic waste.
1. Biomass Liquid
Characteristics
- Natural polymers have conventionally been difficult to liquefy, but we have succeeded in solubilizing them at high concentrations and turning them to liquid, using our proprietary technology.
- Made 100% from starch-derived renewable natural polymer materials.
- Simply replacing conventional petroleum-derived polymer components helps to decarbonize your products.
Examples of products we have developed
Sample | TP-71D51 | TP-71D52 |
---|---|---|
Acidity/alkalinity | Acidic | Neutralizing |
pH (typical, adjustable) | 2–3 | 7–9 |
Biomass concentration | 35% as starch-derived biomass | |
Appearance | Milky to transparent-brown liquid | |
Notes | Viscosity, transparency, etc. adjustable for each item |
Special qualities
We have solved problems inherent to conventional starch polymers, and given them special qualities.
2. Surfactant with cardanol backbone
Characteristics
Cardanol is a natural material obtained from cashew nut shells, which are inedible.
- This product, made from unused agricultural waste components as the starter, helps reduce environmental footprint.
- Can be used as a substitute for nonylphenol.
- A low-foaming, acid-resistant, well-dispersing surfactant, capable of serving as an emulsifier for emulsion polymerization.
